No proper words indeed to describe the marvelous work of Ivan Prieto a young artist from Spain. His sculptures present the extremes of human, the hideous, repugnant ugliness we avoid constantly, ugliness that is good only for laughter. I do believe that Prieto’s characters hide an universal secret that we are not able to perceive in our condition, Prieto’s work make us appear perfect physically but we realize that we are as deformed as his sculptures. His work also reminded me of Hugo’s The Man who laughs.
