This is called The Nature Manifesto:

Having evolved from nature, we have gradually differentiated ourselves from it. Modern society has come to build itself on the perception that nature and man are separated. This differentiation has come to inhibit us and our way of creating. We have now reached the point when the way forward is going back.

We have to accept that we and everything we create are part of nature.
This mindset is essential for evolution as a whole. When applying this to our way of thinking we will liberate ourselves from stagnated conventions.

To move further we need to incorporate the living matter that surrounds us. Let us use the complexity of living nature and include it in our creations. These creations will then redefine the way we reconstruct nature. Only then will we truly move forward.

It is time for man and nature to reunite.

ok, it’s pure bullshit he is talking about. We are a part of nature and we should respect it’s laws! I don’t see modifying a plant to grow in the shape of a chair as a way to “liberate ourselves”. Is he trying to convince us that destroying, modifying living matter is ok in order to express our creativity?
Considering his words I’ll say that this guy is pretty stupid and he haven’t done anything beautiful, neither creative by doing this tree chair.

Well everything is a material really, and to be honest i see that that plant looks quite fine, plus it’s very flexible and i doubt it’s harmed, but as i said you can use different materials to create something, you do realize that this is more a concept that an industrial product, i do accept that his speech is a bit exasperated, but still he is pretty clear about his intentions”we need to incorporate the living matter that surrounds us”, an idea i agree with. And about respecting the laws of nature i could simply say that without incorporating the living matter in our lives we neglect those laws, but a fact is a fact, we grow bigger, we pollute more, we hurt more, and my opinion and how i see this tree chair is that if people can not accept or see, or ignore the nature, then objects like that could bring to light what we are really missing.
